The annual survey by “The Admin Bar” was recently published. I would like to share my views on some of the results in this block:
Costs of the website.
A statement from the website:

If I now assume that the participants are mostly active in the B2B sector, I ask myself the question of how you can create a website that really promotes the customer’s business for less than 5,000 euros.
Don’t get me wrong: You can create a website with a few pages for less than 5,000 euros, no question. However, it then stands alone and has little or no benefit. In order to really generate conversions (i.e. customers use the service because they became aware of the company via the homepage), much more needs to be done than just creating the homepage. In addition to the technically clean creation, this is above all the right, customer-oriented design, sensible copywriting (very few customers are able to deliver search engine optimized texts) and sensible SEO.
In order to get such a website into the upper ranks of Google & Co., it requires considerably more effort, which is simply not feasible for less than 5,000 euros!
I question whether a company that can’t afford 5,000 euros for a website really needs one (just to tick the “I have a website” box). It may make more sense, especially for small companies, to focus on other media such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram etc.. Then a 1-page website with links to the social media may really be enough.
If you look at the data basis and only look at the German participants (31 – perhaps not exactly representative), it is noticeable that 20 of them are in the range below 5,000 euros! 9 are in the 5,000 – 9,999 range and only 2 are in the 10,000 – 19,999 range!
Hourly rate
Here, too, is the statement from the survey:

This correlates in part with the previous point. An hourly rate in this highly qualified field with very complex interrelationships should not be in the region of 50 euros! We are operating in a highly dynamic environment in the B2B sector, which requires a great deal of knowledge, experience and constant learning. You can’t sell your services for nothing! That’s why our current hourly rate of 85 euros is fair and in line with the market!
BTW – if you filter the Airtable table by Germany, the average hourly rate is 125$!
